Federation Square has decided to NOT run the book market this Sunday (24rd May). Whether this means that it's on next week instead and that all the dates posted below are wrong, or whether this means Sunday trading will resume in two weeks we cannot tell you!
We can tell you that we will be there on Saturday, tomorrow the 23rd May.

If you haven't already seen it...

this is the trailor for the new interpretation of what my children's literature tutor at uni insisted is imperialist pedagogy. Looks good.

Two Weeks of the Good Life
The first two weeks as proprietors of our own establishment have passed oh so quickly. I can sand walls with my bare hands, but it's been fun! Not sure how much longer until we open, still plan for early June, but still have to make rash decisions about timber stains and wall colours. Also a small issue of pricing a few thousand books. We will, however, be at Federation Square two days this weekend, sharing the Atrium with The Emerging Writer's Festival who will be conducting a number of "speakers corners" as part of their week long program. Come along and support diversity in Australia's literary scene, buy some secondhand books and check out the amazing John Brack exhibition at the NGV. What better way to spend a 21 deg and mostly sunny weekend in Melbourne?

Update in point form
Bookshop: We are very excited to announce that we are opening a bookshop of our own at 237 High Street Northcote early this June! We have signed leases, received keys and begun moving hundreds of boxes of books. This coming week we will begin the construction of 300 metres of shelving. The shop will stock a similar range to those seen at our Fed Square stall and at Clunes this weekend just passed -Fiction, General non-fiction, a smattering of art, design and collectibles and a strong focus on children's literature and picture books. Keep checking this blog for updates and further details. Contact us via our websbite, or to sell us books call us on 9481 3388 or 0425 754 448.
Federation Square: The kindly management at the Federation Square have decided to tentatively allow the Federation Square Book Market to trade on Sundays. The following Sundays have been confirmed as part of this trial period:
Clunes 09: Was a raging success! We sold lots of books, met lots of lovely people and had the opportunity to "launch" our logo and chat with people about our plans for the shop. We would like to thank everyone who made the trip up from Melbourne to support the Back to Booktown project and all the book dealers involved.
